With quirky and captivating images, this book is a cute little read for young children. The theme of kindness peppered throughout, the story is told entirely through verse, with rich language that will both engage, and develop a child’s vocabulary. The font is easily readable, and well-edited, although the author has made the decision to embolden the first capital on each page, which can be quite distracting to the eye. Moggie and Froggie are interesting characters although not quite well-defined: the way in which Froggie behaves towards Moggie and yet somehow gets away with being the ‘kinder’ protagonist is questionable at times; both of them rapidly change in their viewpoints and mannerisms which means the book almost lacks consistency at times. Vibrant images decorate the pages and will easily attract the eyes of young readers due to the brightly blended colour pallet. A cosy little read that may be nice to be shared with your child on occasion, The Book Dragon awards this book 3 stars.
