As Sick as Our Secrets (Book One) by Author A. B. Whelan – Book Review

The Book Dragon was given a copy of this directly from the author through Voracious Readers Only website in exchange for a free and honest review.

“Those who live in the dark are not afraid of it.”

As sick as our secrets is a brilliant psychological thriller that will have readers questioning a person’s true story, rather than the one caught like a speck of dust in the iris of social media.

Here, every soul is unique but misunderstood.

“…I need to stop creating monsters in my head…”

How is this standard attainable when paranoia and doubt snap at you like wilds dogs? How do you look a loved one in the eyes the same way when you question their innocence? How many times can your heart try to disorganise the pieces to a puzzle that always seems to fit?

“I’ve mastered pretending a long time ago.”

When Skyler O’Neill disappears, she’s just dismissed as a faceless soul, one of many that are reported missing every day. But when her friend’s suspicions about her demise haunt her dreams and shatter her days, she decides to investigate.

What she finds will destroy her world.

Although I must warn readers of the graphic and disturbing nature of the story, I recommend this to fans of disturbing urban thrillers.

I award the book 4 stars.
