Smurgle is an extremely generous and humble dragon, with a curious mind, and a love of all literature. He never asks for gold in return for his words of wisdom. Where Smurgle is concerned books are his treasure, and he loves nothing more than to share his passion and enthusiasm by filling his cave with all his incredible discoveries. Our Smurgle is an inclusive Dragon and welcomes all genres of books into his domain.

 Smurgle remains truly humbled by the sheer generosity of the human race, and our incredible volunteers who work alongside The Book Dragon teams. Do We Charge to Review Books?

As Smurgle’s constant quest and hunger for knowledge must be satisfied, the team seek out all genres of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry to satiate his massive appetite. There are no fees for our book review service.

From the very young through to adult, our dragon simply loves and appreciates all books. If he doesn’t quite enjoy a story, then he is well versed in his feedback. Always ensuring that his views do not undermine our authors confidence and self esteem. He is a wise but kindly dragon afterall.

What Happens if a Reviewer gives a poor star rating for my book?

Smurgle knows that his siblings will always be there to work alongside our authors, taking his wisdom on board and learning from this. Authors then use the feedback to improve further on their writing craft. Smurgle refers authors to his brother Alden who offers support and guides the author to amend or make changes where identified. The aim is always to increase an author’s opportunity for future success. Once the book has been re-edited a further review is given. The Author also has the opportunity to stock with our gorgeous Roarie Dragon.

The reviewer will at their own discretion decide whether they go ahead and publish the review via their own Amazon or Goodreads accounts. 

Can you Guarantee a Deadline for when I will receive my review?

Our dragon’s generosity literally knows no bounds, so we do need to take special care of Smurgle and his human volunteer friends. The Book Dragon can guarantee priority reviews for its members. However we simply cannot confirm a deadline for our non-members to have their books read and reviewed. We always endeavour where possible to meet requested timeframes.

How do I proceed to have my book reviewed?

To have your book reviewed by Smurgle please refer to our Book Review Policy, Author Book Review Assessment Criteria forms for further information.

Please then complete the Request form and email this to: thebookdragonteam@thebookdragon.co.uk with either a PDF file (preferred), EPUB or MOBI file of your book attached.

Authors may also submit paperback or hardback books for review by sending directly to:

Where is my Book Review published?

Each book review is added to our Book Review Section on our website which can be found at https://www.thebookdragon.co.uk/book-reviews/

For Authors who stock their books with us, we place a link to the book review in the product description in the online store. The star rating awarded is also displayed.

A teaser post directing customers to the review is then placed on our social media pages Facebook, Instagram, Linked In and Twitter. 

We place the full review on Goodreads. Sadly Amazon delete our book reviews from our Book Dragon Amazon account. Therefore it is our Volunteer reviewers who choose to place the review via their own Amazon accounts.
