Adam Bright was once a genius university professor, but at some point, he lost his mind to a story. Now, anyone who hears him tell it risks losing their mind, too.
Ali, an aspiring author, pleads with his friend Rob, who works at a mental hospital, to arrange a meeting with the professor. Rob initially refuses but eventually agrees after Ali offers him a bribe.
Using a fake ID, Ali visits the professor, posing as a distant relative. He finds Adam Bright, whose appearance resembles that of Zeus, mysterious and intimidating. Yet the professor doesn’t seem mentally disturbed enough to justify the hospital administration’s decision to isolate him. The staff even insist that Ali sign a waiver relinquishing his right to sue the hospital should he suffer any mental or psychological harm as a result of meeting the professor.
As Ali listens to the professor’s tale, he discovers that it consists of four interconnected stories containing forbidden knowledge. The deeper he delves, the more he realises the magnitude of the sacrifices he may have to make and just how dangerous his journey has become.
His situation grows even more perilous when he comes face to face with Angela, the leader of an ancient organisation that seeks to control people through the stories they hear, while acquiring and concealing forbidden knowledge hidden within ancient tales.
Ali soon finds himself caught in the middle of a cold war between Angela’s organisation and the professor’s ancient society, *The Pen Keepers*. While the professor intends to use Ali to share the forbidden story with the masses, Angela is determined to conceal and distort the mind-binding truth before Ali can reveal it through his writing.
As the conflict escalates, Ali realises that there is no safe way out of the situation. The only way out is through.
