Where Can We Have The Party by Author Deb Hockenberry – Book Review

This is a sweet little story for younger children. A group of animal friends wish to give a surprise birthday party but finding a venue is proving a problem.

Themes of kindness, fun, friendship and co-operation are central.

The pictures are in the ‘naïve’ style which children will readily identify with.

The font is large, clear and suitable for a beginner reader, but the story will also work as a read-aloud for a younger child.

Maybe the print-on-demand has slightly subdued the colours in the original pictures which has taken away some of the sharpness.

The characters are fun and quirky with strong expressions of emotion.

A happy ending saves the day.

I award 4 stars.
