About 20 years after the events in the book that started it all, we keep on following Jason Bottelli and his family as they navigate not only his career, but his health, his marriage and his grown up children’s lives. It is heart-warming to see the progression of all the characters, his children especially. The reliance and affection we’ve come to expect from Christopher and Anna is always present, though some characters were significantly less present and described than in previous novels. We get to see more of Lewis in this story and just how much working with Jason means/meant to him. Georgie shines in this book as she finds herself taking on new responsibilities.
Bouncing back after yet another relapse, Jason finds his fame still opens many doors for him; he is presented with film scripts and endorsement opportunities, and a significant list of artists wishing to collaborate. But will it all be too much for Jason? As always, the author describes the workings of the music industry in a succinct, but relatable way. We get good insight on Jason’s inner development about his career and his relationships with these new artists. The dialogues flow easily, though sometimes it starts to sound similar. Like in the other books, the pacing is mostly good, but can sometimes be a bit jarring with time jumps or scene hops. The ending was expected, but worked well. I just wish the ending scenes were less short.
Another beautiful entry in this series!
I award this book: 4.5 stars!
