For cat-lovers everywhere, this beautifully illustrated dictionary ‘cat’alogues some of the fun words and phrases we use to describe our feline friends. Some capture their captivating characteristics, others their purrfect personalities, and others their humorous habits. So get comfy, perhaps in a sun puddle or with a niptini to mlem, and purruse your way through these tree-flappers until interrupted by a moggo who, as soon as you let them, will loaf or groot all over your lovely book!

Was It A Cat I Saw? By Author Isabel Kurczynskyj – Book Review

Though this charming book by Isabel Kurczynskyj isn’t large, it offers a lot of value, with its creator
providing both the words and illustrations. Taking the format of a dictionary of cat related words, the
phrases and behaviours referred to will be familiar to all fans of felines. Isabel’s illustrations are beautiful, taking the format of pencil sketches. The cats she portrays are lovingly captured and give off a real sense of personality.
The expressions used in this delightful dictionary are both cute and clever. Personal favourites of mine
are ELEVATOR BUTT (When a cat stands and lowers its front half and at the same time stretches and
extends its back legs higher in response to strokes and scritches along its lower back and near the base
of their tail, sometimes making biscuits at the same time which sometimes involves all four paws) and
OPINOWS (A cat vocalising an always important message.)
This would be a wonderful gift for anyone who loves the company of cats. If that includes you, then
perhaps treat yourself to this perfect pussycat present!
I award Was It A Cat I Saw 5 stars.
