Tom and Penny’s Worry Book Starting School By Author Claire Nicholls – Book Review

What a fantastic way to ease children’s worries: a secret book that talks to them and reassures them when there’s something on their mind!

In this particular tale, Penny is worried about starting school and the book takes her on a journey through her school day to show her just how much fun she’ll have. It’s the perfect story to share with a little one who may be having similar thoughts to help them understand what they might see in the classroom.

Told entirely through rhyme, the book does have a nice rhythm although the rhyme and best is lost in places. There are a couple of places where the lines have been written just to rhyme and as a result, the verse does lose its meaning a little. For the most part it’s easy to follow however and on the whole, an enjoyable tale. The illustrations are simple and cute, appealing to younger children.

A lovely concept that will inspire parents everywhere, The Book Dragon reviewed this book on behalf of the author and awards it 4 stars.
