The Zookeepers’ Quest: The Koala and the Bushfire By Author Lorraine Miller – Book Review

Raising awareness of ecological issues around the world the same time as providing a fun and engaging adventure for children, this gem of a series is a fantastic tale for a young wildlife enthusiast.

Bonnie and Freddie are zookeepers with a mission to protect all animals around the globe. This time they’re flying to Australia to rescue koalas from the terrifying bushfires that are found in the country. Our protagonists are fun and likeable, determined to be the heroes and will inspire children to go on their own wildlife saving missions.

Telling the story through rhyming couplets creates a much needed pace for this story as the pair race against time through across Australia to rescue as many creatures as possible; the rhythm encourages readers to bounce through the story and puts a lighthearted spin on a serious issue. Accompanied with images that will appeal to a child’s eye, the book will definitely be a winner among younger readers. Plus there’s some handy little tips and information at the back!

The Book Dragon reviewed this excellent book on behalf of the author and awards it 5 stars.
