The Splottiest Red Nose Day Ever By Author Susie Bennett – Book Review

This fun book features a young schoolgirl and the event of Red Nose Day, which happens every year. Typically, children’s picture books are aimed at readers aged 3-7 but this book also can work for older children. Given the subject of Red Nose Day, my expectations of ‘The Splottiest Red Nose Day Ever’ were of a fun, entertaining read. Narrative flow is smooth, with easy reading created by the appropriate clear vocabulary that would make sense read aloud.

With bright illustrations to enhance the story, readers should be engaged and have their attention held throughout the book. The book encourages curiosity, imagination and play. Several ideas in the book I thought were too naughty, but perhaps this is a good way of teaching children right from wrong. Discussions will definitely take place about appropriate behaviour!

This is a book that I can recommend to younger readers, with a 4.5 star rating.
