The Boy Who Dared By Author Rachel Coverdale – Book Review

This book for ages nine through twelve is full of adventure, twists, and turns. It starts out simply enough with a camping trip in the mountains of Wales, then turns into a run for survival!

When Mr. Taylor decides to go to the nearest Welsh village for provisions, James, Ahmed, and Greg decide to climb the nearest mountain. What harm will it do? They won’t be that far from their campsite. When they get up there, the three boys decide to look over the wall surrounding Mr. Griffiths property. Why were they warned to stay away from Mr. Griffiths property? Is he hiding something?

I enjoyed The Boy Who Dared and highly recommend it. This book aimed at ages nine through twelve is full of adventure, twists, and turns. What starts out as a simple camping trip in the mountains of Wales, turns into a fight for survival!

The Boy Who Dared is a well-written and well-paced story. The author used many British terms that this reviewer had to look up so I could fully understand the story. It would’ve been nice if the author added a glossary of UK terms and their meanings.

I loved the author’s notes at the end of the book. The inclusion of phone numbers to the RSPCA and police showed that the author truly cares about animals. She even gives us a website to find reputable breeders.

I award 5 stars.
