Cover Blurb:

When recently bereaved schoolmaster Dr James Wilson retires to Upper Gibbet, he strikes up an acquaintance with Canon Oliver Ball, the local vicar. The Canon, on his own admission, has a tendency to become involved in strange, not to say uncanny, incidents, which he describes to Jim Wilson who, in turn, recounts them to the reader. Further peculiar happenings occur, involving both characters, and Jim Wilson narrates these additional stories. While written in a light style, these tales should not, perhaps, be read late at night by those of a nervous disposition.

Tales from the Vicarage By Author Roger Elgood – Book Review

Tales of horror within a story. Although I found the beginning to be a little slow moving for my taste, each horror story is completely different than the other and perfectly unique to fit the setting of the book. Tales from the vicarage leaves the reader chilled and ready for more, using suspense to really set the scene. I was really impressed with the variety of short stories within this novel. The friendship between the now retired schoolteacher Dr James (Jim) Wilson and the local village vicar Canon Oliver ball (The canon) was fast growing and added a bit of humour to the book overall, as well as a strong theme of friendship as they share and investigate the supernatural. Overall I would give Tales from the Vicarage a solid 5 stars because I really couldn’t put this book down.
