Raven and Her Magical Friends By Author Jatoria Crews – Book Review

A neat little book with a great message about inner beauty and self-confidence. Although aimed at younger, less confident readers, I would suggest that the story translates well for all ages, and wonder whether the author has any ideas about allowing Raven (or perhaps a different, early-teenager, character) to take this subject further? The bright and colourful illustrations had a ‘comic book’ feel, and would appeal to younger children, and the font is clear and easy to read. I picked up a couple of punctuation errors, particularly concerning speech marks, but this is easily corrected in the next print run. The story was fairly short and finished a little too swiftly, but the final page is a fabulous final statement. I award 3 stars.
