Rain is a soulful, beautiful collection of poems that focus on different facets of the human spirit but especially on grief and loss. Rain encompasses different experiences, family connections, emotions and imaginings. Some poems stand out through their whimsical fun nature, others through their raw lament and imagery. The author’s voice is strong and consistent throughout each poem. The poems are compiled in a way that takes the reader through a logical journey — an overarching theme but with some slight shifts of mood to take a break. The poems are diverse in their structure; some rhymed, some didn’t, some were long and some were short. For the most part, the verses flowed perfectly. It was a beautiful, contemplative read.
I award 5 stars.
