The Queen’s Ascension is the third book in the Blood Prophecy series written by Author Barb Jones and continues the story of the four main characters, Amber, Chloe, Marcus and Michael. Following on from events in Book 2, this story introduces even more drama and conflict as Amber and Michael’s relationship drastically changes (a reversal of Buffy & Angel for fans of this series). Chloe and Marcus’ daughter Zaraquel is drawn deeper into the prophecy and faces personal challenges of her own, and Marcus is marked for assassination as he continues to be a threat to the mysterious Tall Dark Man. With the introduction of more witches, demons, werewolves, vampires and fallen angels, cue the arrival of necromancer and music maestro ‘Mozart’ and his army of the walking dead joining with the dark forces and we have an exciting cast of paranormal characters.
Readers should now be used to the swift changes between characters point of views. The pace is good and keeps the readers engaged, the dialogue relevant and credible. There are very little editorial issues to distract the reader or drag them out of the story. I loved the additional conflict introduced to the characters as they battle against their darker natures.
This is my favourite book of the three. I award 4.5 stars.
