This is a short book, but it packs a lot of meaning into its pages. It explores spirituality and helps bring understanding that life can be full of both bright and dark days. My favourite section was the DARK DAY, followed by HOPE! It gives the message that there is always hope, even in tough times, if you can only look around and open your heart and mind. “A light begins to shine so bright above me, on this dark and awful day.”
Beautifully illustrated throughout, the artwork serves to convey the book’s message. The use of colour helps to represent different moods, which is something that could be understood by both children and adults. I re-read the book several times in order to fully absorb its content and found something new to appreciate each time. I would recommend this book to anyone who is struggling on life’s path and is looking for some positivity. I loved the connections drawn between humans and the nature around them. “I am a leaf; the leaf is me. I did not know that a leaf feels this free!”
There were slight errors in grammar, but this didn’t detract too much from the overall joy of the book. I award this book 4 stars.
