The perfect emotional toolkit for any child, especially those who find it difficult to identify and regulate their own feelings.
Written by Ronald Crouch, the book is based on his own experiences as a child psychologist; it’s a guide to feelings as well as a manual for coping with them. What really appealed to me was that the first few chapters get children to recognise what feelings are and explores different feelings before providing plenty of useful strategies to manage them. The cherry on the cake are the application activities at the end of the book that encourage youngsters to put themselves in a difficult situation and consider how they may get out of it using their emotional toolkit.
Bright and inviting, the book is covered with ever-popular emojis that will definitely appeal to a younger eye. It’s bursting with activity sheets as well as facts so children will be immersed from the get go. With it being written by an American author, there are some American spellings but not so many it becomes a problem.
A brilliant foray into the world of self-development for children, The Book Dragon awards this book a very happy 5 stars.
