Magic Remembered By Author Coralie Moss – Book Review

Magic Remembered is the first book in the Calliope Jones series, and introduces readers to the main protagonist, Calliope Jones, a 40 something, peri-menopause, single parent divorcee and earth witch charged in solving a magical crime. With two teenage sons whose magical powers are awakening, a domineering ex-husband and her growing attraction to the Druid enlisted by the Goddess Idunn to assist Calliope, our female protagonist has much to occupy herself with, and therefore plenty to keep readers engaged and entertained.

The plot itself moves forward at a satisfactory pace, and the characters are all credible and likeable with interesting personalities and backgrounds, that are gradually revealed over the course of the story. Calliope’s character is a breath of fresh air as the Author steers away from the typical characters of this genre and introduces a realistic female lead that readers will relate to and empathise with. The dialogue is relevant and there are no significant editorial issues to spoil reading pleasure.

Overall I really enjoyed reading Magic Remembered, however I did feel that some plot scenes ended too quickly and easily, and so left me wanting more.

I award 4 stars.
