A perfect pocket-sized piece of happiness to carry round in your handbag for little ones or perhaps to have perched somewhere where others might like to peruse it.
Inside this treasure trove of a book is a collection of wonderful poems, each telling a story of sorts. Amongst my personal favourites were the tales of Christmas through the eyes of a very confused baby, a faithful dog who decides he’s been displaced by his owner, a mysterious dressmaker with a heart full of love, and a girl who lives and breathes the magic of childhood. As an added bonus, the writer has included the story of Isadora, the witch of Ridgebone Manor. With vibes of ‘Five Children and It’, the story is fascinating and intriguing, and sucks you into its magical world.
The poems, all constructed from rhyming couplets, on the whole are well-written with excellent rhythm. There’s the occasional time when the rhyme is lost or the syllables don’t quite fit the flow but these moments are few and far between, and the book maintains a positive, bouncing feeling throughout.
The Book Dragon reviewed this wonderful assortment on behalf of the author and was left with a smile of wonder, happiness or sadness after each and every poem. A well-deserved 5 stars are awarded here.
