Cover Blurb:

This book of channelled poems and art gives the reader, though tame in its true depth just a teeny tiny glimpse into mental health suffering. This book also brings HOPE. Hope for a future where everyone, and every voice is heard. Hope and Faith in humanity that they see beyond the ignorance of 'labels' which are so destructive and placed on millions of people, blocking their recovery by them being misunderstood, unseen as a human being beyond the 'label'. An education into the healing power of pure unconditional soul love, our essence of being.

LOVE Unconditional: A Short Journey in Time Through the Eyes of Mental Health By Author Positone – Book Review

This is an inspirational spiritual poetry book with colour illustrations. Some of the illustrations are behind the poems which makes for a lovely effect. The poetry itself is very lyrical, lending itself to an element of song or even a hymn structure. The poems are rhythmic, many following a strong rhyme structure.

“One day my love your soul will soar

Our of the chaos you’ll fly once more

Free as a bird in your spiritual glow

Free flowing high, away you go

(Until they Listen)

The poems centre around love, hope and mental health, as you would expect from the title. The poet writes simply, encouraging the reader to connect with themselves and their own creativity. The art is cheerful, a little abstract, and has titles to link it up with its accompanying poetic piece. I felt the emotion was nice and I value the messages that the poet has used, but there is a lack of strong imagery and not much variation in pace or rhythm.

Flights of stillness into the calm of night

Allowing mind, consciousness and thought to alight

Gently now floating

On high wisdom insight

(Busy Mind)

I award 3.5 stars.
