I’m not someone who normally would read paranormal romance books but this one caught my attention due to it being set in Whitby, a town a short bus ride away from where I live. By the end of the first chapter, I was already caught up in Caitlyn’s story. She’s a young woman of eighteen years old, who moves to North Yorkshire following her father’s diagnosis of terminal cancer, with the intention of assisting him with the running of his seaside hotel. This is a lot to deal with in itself, but she soon finds herself caught up in a complicated and passionate romance with local eligible bachelor, Marcus Davenport. There’s more to Marcus than there initially seems and to complicate matters further, there’s Caitlyn’s blossoming friendship with hotel handyman, Luke, who has an intense rivalry with Marcus.
The book is an easy to read page turner and I imagine it would be perfect for anyone who enjoyed the Twilight series. It recalled my own memories of teenage romance and the excitement felt when falling for someone for the first time. It was thrilling to follow Caitlyn on this journey. I delightfully devoured it in a short space of time and was left wanting more, so I’m very happy that there’s another two books in this series. I award this riveting read 5 stars.
