I’ve been anticipating this return to the world of Whitby Shadows ever since completing book four in the summer. Accomplished author C.J. Laurence does not disappoint with her fifth and final instalment featuring heroine Caitlyn Summers and a whole cast of other colourful characters.
As always, the action picks up directly after the previous book, giving a sense of flow and urgency that pull you right back into the story. As the stakes continue to rise for Caitlyn and those she cares for, she continues to discover more about the vast amount of power and potential she possesses.
It was fantastic to once again be in the gorgeous North Yorkshire town of Whitby, where most of the action is set, and to get shout-outs for the Teesside towns of Middlesbrough and Guisborough, both close to our beloved Book Dragon store!
As the twists and turns of the tale unfold, the tension builds, and we start to wonder what will become of Caitlyn, her lover Luke and their unborn baby. Whilst they try to focus on looking towards the future, the past inevitably pulls them backwards, demanding that things are resolved before they can have any hope of everlasting happiness together.
As with every instalment of this fantastic modern fantasy series, I have no hesitation in awarding Love, Lies & Everlasting Ties 5 stars.
