I was greatly anticipating getting to read this sequel to Love, Lies and Immortal Ties, after being gripped by the first instalment. The action picks up pretty much where the previous book left off and I found it easy to slip back into the story. C.J. has created strong characters and the twists and turns of their tales are compelling. The setting of the seaside town of Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast is perfect for a story about the supernatural, with its colourful past and association with gothic literature.
The heroine of the series, eighteen-year-old Caitlyn is feeling confused and conflicted about her feelings for two different men. She’s also dealing with the imminent death of her beloved father and discovering new and shocking secrets about herself and her family history. The book is full of passion and plot twists and takes the reader on a riveting rollercoaster of romance. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants a book that they can easily escape into. I award Love, Lies and Blood Ties 5 out of 5 stars.
