The Japanese art of Kintsugi to fix broken pottery with gold is an apt story name of the main character, Eve Gilchrist. In her golden years, a surprise package of handwritten letters from her Aunt Doris. Some decades ago, Eve was told that her Mum and Dad weren’t her natural parents, and Aunt Doris actually was her mother. The letters shockingly reveal what happened preceding Eve’s birth, and the first years of her life. Eve remembers a different family support from her growing up to what Doris’s letters report. I couldn’t put this book down, and was swept up in the emotions of the tale. 5 stars overall rating from me.
