Especially boys like Halo Ironstone. With his missing eye, missing arm, and pallor mortis skin, he’s fried the freak-o-meter. But as Emma soon learns, Halo’s otherworldliness goes far deeper than his appearance. And he’s only interested in one thing—baiting the hacker known as Invisi_Gir1.

Invisi-Gir1 by Author Connor Steel – Book Review

A hacker + a mysterious guy with missing body parts = a set up?

Invisi-Gir1 by Connor Steel is the first in the Lost Series and was awesome! This is the story of Emma aka Invisi_Gir1, a super talented hacker who happens to be a teenager. Due to her skills, she and her father need to have a change of scene so he moves them to England. But a little after arriving, she gets sucked back into the world of hacking along with some unexpected chaos.

So much happened in such a little bit of time. It was like The Matrix, London Has Fallen, and more, all mixed together. So good! I loved that this was centered on coding. More specifically, hacking. The story had a combination of story, messages, and the coding all within the writing. It was so cool to see in that form. There was lots of action happening as well with a bit of chaos, which is always fun!

With all of the action and misdirection, the underlying situation was much deeper than what one might perceive. This was a story of loss and dealing with that grief. A girl who lost her mother and used hacking to deal with it, but it took over her and caused her to be put into unwanted situations. With everything happening, there’s still just a teenage girl who gets embarrassed over small things, a girl who gets crushes, and one who is pretending to be okay. Beautiful story!

If you are interested in sci-fi novels with a bit of suspense and mystery, this is for you!

I can’t wait for the next book in the series to emerge. I award, Invisi-Gir1, 5 stars.
