House of Bastiion (The Hadren Legacy Book 1) by Author K. L. Kolarich – Book Review

“The figure crushed his lashless eyes shut and carried the sound of her voice into the darkness he now called home.”

House of Bastiion is a beautifully written tale of Fantasy and magic, treachery and bloodlust, by bestselling and award-winning author K. L. Kolarich.

Book one of the Haidren Legacy encapsulates the reader from the very first page, whether a fan of George. R.R. Martin or not, this adventure will not disappoint. Swords and egos clash in the author’s world of limitless imagination, a realm of darkness and hope. Nobody is as they seem in an existence of deceit, war, and on the road to peace that cannot be trusted.

“Her body remained as still as the dead heart she surely carried. It was her eyes that shifted. One eye bluer than the Kalm River; the other paler than the sky. Eyes seen only on the haidrons to Boreal. And as he watched her, those eyes began to emit an incandescent light of her own. A gust of wind swept across the party, lifting her strange, pastel hair to join it.”

Though this is a long quote from the novel, I was struck by the author’s style and visual power, and therefore wanted to share it with you. I look forward to reviewing the second book in the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and award it 5 stars.
