Greener Pastures and Brown Blazers By Author Edna Hunneysett – Book Review

Greener Pastures and Brown Blazers is the follow up to the novel ‘Greener Beyond the Hill’ and again centred on the Holmes family however the focus of much of the story is on Emma Holmes who has now passed her 11+ exams and leaves her home to attend a boarding school in Scarborough. Again this is a truly heart warming and realistic account that takes the reader on a fascinating journey and experience as Emma adjusts to boarding school life and the strict rules and regulations that are in place. Emma must balance her education, and challenges of living away from home and in a completely different environment that she is used to, having to constantly adapt between the two. Emma is an extremely likeable character, and it has been an absolute pleasure to watch how she changes and grows with each new experience and adversity faced. The dialogue is realistic and the narration itself detailing life at the boarding school and the families life, the hardships they continue to face is emotive and engaging. The plot moves at a good pace keeping readers entertained and this is very little that would distract the reader from the story.

Another fabulous and enjoyable read. I award 5 stars.
