Felix’s Favourite Day By Author Fiona Lowry – Book Review

This book takes a common theme: a child wants an animal, but his parents aren’t enthusiastic about the idea and the story adds an interesting element to the trope. Felix wants to be a vet, and he wants his own pet. His parents finally concede to bring him to a shelter. The character is relatable, as well as his parents’ motives for refusing to give in immediately. However, it would have been nice to see more substance to their characters, and the animal Felix ends up choosing. The dialogue is well-written, the rhyming is nice. The pacing is a little rushed; it would be nice to see a few more pages in this cute story.

I award 4.5 stars.
