Cover Blurb:

A present for the Volcano Book One Spike (an ankylosaurus) sees a volcano erupting. He thinks it is unhappy. He wants to give the volcano a present to cheer it up. He gets his friend Conifer (a tyrannosaurus) to help him build a necklace of stones around the base of the volcano. When it does erupt, the stones block the lava flow. Saving Conifer’s Eggs Book Two (Flip Over) Spike and Conifer smell smoke and know they must leave the forest. But Conifer is sitting on her eggs. She has three eggs and only two hands. When she lifts her nest, she must walk carefully so they don’t clack together. Spike is impatient and swings his tail back and forth. He knocks down a Ginko tree. The two friends decide to take the fallen tree to the river and use it to float away from the fire.

Dinosaur Friends By Author Lois Wickstrom – Book Review

Dinosaur Friends is two books in one, a novel concept that little readers may find a little confusing at first but will then be amazed. If they flip the book over, they will get a completely different story!
Two dinosaur friends have two different adventures. In the first, little Spike wants to give an erupting volcano a gift while the bigger Conifer just wants to run. However, showing that they truly are the best of friends, Conifer helps Spike prepare the present. When the volcano erupts, they flee, only to find that Spike’s present is not what it seems. In the second, they have to save Conifer’s eggs from a forest fire. Spike overcome his fear of water and Conifer, her eggs and Spike are all saved.
These stories explore what it means to be a friend and will help children to understand the concept of looking out for each other. The stories are illustrated by delightfully simple and colourful pictures by Nicolás Milano. With nothing to detract from the experience, I award this book 5 stars.
