Devil in the Detail By Author Nik Terry – Book Review

“Devil in the Detail” by Author Nik Terry is an erotic thriller that follows the story of Natalie, a lawyer who becomes the target of a bounty due to her possession of evidence that could expose powerful individuals involved in criminal activities. Enter the Viking, a hitman who rejects the job and instead takes on the responsibility of protecting Natalie, after he warns his friend, Cian, who is now married to Natalie’s sister, Charlie, the main protagonists from Book 2 in the Northern Sins Saga, Kiss for a Killer.

As the story progresses, a romance blossoms between the Viking and Natalie, despite them being the exact opposites, adding an additional layer of complexity to the already tense situation. The author builds up the drama and tension as the Viking takes Natalie to his secret hideout, only to have his location discovered, forcing him to seek help from his old motorbike crew. The strained relationship between the Viking and his crew, combined with the imminent danger they face, creates an action-packed narrative that keeps readers engaged.

While the pacing of the story is generally well-maintained, there were instances where the narrative seemed to linger too much on the explicit sex scenes, particularly when the Viking takes Natalie to his secret hideout. While some readers may enjoy these scenes, others might find them excessive and detracting from the overall plot.

In terms of editing, “Devil in the Detail” does not have any significant issues. The dialogue flows naturally and the characters are sufficiently developed, allowing readers to connect with them on an emotional level. However, it is the action scenes and the complex dynamics between the Viking and his old motorcycle gang that stand out as the most enjoyable aspects of the book.

Overall, “Devil in the Detail” is a captivating erotic thriller that combines elements of romance, suspense, and action. While it may not be suitable for all readers due to its explicit content, those who appreciate a well-crafted story with well-developed characters and thrilling action sequences will find this book to be a satisfying read.

I award 4.5 stars.
