Cupid Romance Lovejoy tells the tale of Cupid, who is always very busy serving love and lust across the world. Like most people, he hates his mundane job – but the main problem is because he has never experienced love. A ridiculous notion as he is the supposed ‘God of Love’! Deciding enough is enough, he summons his courage to speak with the man upstairs. With God’s approval, Cupid has a week off work with free reign of New York City to explore. But what will Cupid find once he is a mortal man?
Of the three Ophelia Gold books, I enjoyed this one the most, much to my surprise. The reader feels the emotions of Cupid, as the God of Love, and as Cooper, an ordinary man on the streets of New York. It has a humorous theme throughout, otherwise the book’s tone would be too dreary. We are captivated by the twists and turns of the plot, and surprised by God’s character change towards how things are run amongst his ‘staff’. I award 5 stars.
