Although intended for a young adult audience, adult readers will enjoy reading Blue, a heartwarming story of a young girl and horse, two lost souls in pain and unable to trust. When their paths cross they form a deep bond and friendship that each fiercely fights to protect when the past catches up with them and threatens to tear the two of them apart.
This is a beautifully written, emotional telling that will resonate and move readers, especially those who have an affinity with horses. The story is told in the point of view of the young girl, Blue, and the inner dialogue is written in such a way that allows the reader to visualise and see the connection and meaning behind the stallions gestures and behaviour.
The secondary characters that support the story are credible, and I enjoyed the way that the author expressed a softer / empathic side to one of the main antagonists. There were no significant editorial issues that would distract from the story and the plot moves forward at a good pace.
I enjoyed reading Blue and I award a strong 4 stars.
