Ballet School Boys has us dancing back to Amberwood Hall for the second instalment in this charming series by Eleanor Dixon. With just as much mystery and mischief as its predecessor, this book maintains the page-turning quality that The Graceful Ghost gave us.
We return with Lauren and Katie for Year 9 at Amberwood but there’s a big difference: this time, boys have been allowed into the prestigious ballet school. With the larger-than-life character of Jay and the intriguing Ethan, we are again left with question after question at the end of each chapter all whilst the story keeps on giving. Eleanor Dixon has once again created carefully thought-out characters with believable back stories that gives reason for their behaviour. You find yourself rooting for the underdog and hoping the bully meets their downfall all whilst falling a little bit more in love with the main protagonists we met in the first story.
The plot is pacy and easy to read, perfect for those aged 8+ who are wanting to delve into the world of slightly longer novels but without the complexities that can often come with a lengthier title. Well-edited throughout, you find yourself swept away in the story.
The Book Dragon reviewed this on behalf of the author and found it just as exciting a read as the first book. An adventure filled with pirouettes and practical jokes, it deserves its 5 star rating.
