“Maddie the Baddie” is a fun, enjoyable romp and delightful sequel to “Fool’s Gold.” We meet some of the old cast, like the ever intrepid Lottie, and her crazy great granddad Cheddar George. This time, trouble comes to Alum Bay in the form of Maddie Mainard, a PCS agent whose mission is to kidnap old folks from the area who have done anything slightly wrong in their past. Misunderstandings and wild schemes fuel the plot, and Cheddar George finds himself as one of Maddie’s targets. Naturally Lottie and her BREW crew have to try and save him. The dialogue continues to be funny, and distinct for each character. The plot takes one on unexpected turns and escalates in a hilarious fashion. Sometimes the magical element of the BREW crew can be a bit convenient for the plot, but all in all, they add a fun twist to the story. The pacing is engaging and moves along. Despite some editing errors, the story is a highly enjoyable read! I award this book 4.5 stars!
