Season of the Mammoth By Author Antony Wootten – Book Review

Season of the Mammoth is a short novella for young readers that introduces the characters of Geb and Tannash, son and daughter of their tribal leader. During the hunting season of the mammoth the siblings are drawn into argument between their father and uncle who have opposing views relating to a nomadic tribe who share the land during hunting season but are dying out and in need of support. As tempers rise the tribe is torn apart and both Geb and Tannash are forced to choose sides.

Antony has a wonderful writing style and like his other books, the plot is well written and extremely engaging with many positive messages and lessons learned throughout. The characters are easy to form a connection with and readers will remain invested in their story. The dialogue is credible and there is nothing that would distract or pull the reader out of the story. Again Antony shares his own thoughts about the story and characters created, referencing historical facts that are both interesting and thought provoking, and that provide fascinating points for discussion and reflection.

I really enjoyed reading this and I award 5 stars.
