Flora Investigates: The Case of the Missing Gold Eggs By Author Saloni Surah – Book Review

The Case of the Missing Gold Eggs by Author Saloni Surah is the first book in the Flora Investigates and introduces to readers the main protagonist Flora, a ten year old, aspiring female detective. Flora opens up her detective agency inspired by the books that she has read and the distinct lack of female detectives. Her first case involves a missing chicken believed to be stolen due to her ability to lay solid gold eggs. Putting her detective skills to the test, our young sleuth rises to the challenge of cheese loving flying pirates, a crazy cat loving neighbour and a hunter determined to stop Flora solving the mystery.

For young readers this is a fun and entertaining story, with a plot that moves at a good pace. The book has great illustrations throughout, that compliment and bring the story to life. This is a wonderful introduction to the series, with no significant issues to spoil reader enjoyment, and the fun spot the difference activity at the back adds a further charm for its young audiences.

I really enjoyed and I look forward to seeing Flora challenged by more complex and fantastical cases.

I award 4 stars.
