A Steampunk Murder Mystery Unfolds

The Crime Scene and Our Sleuths

Welcome to San Diego’s 19th Annual Steampunk Convention. As gears whir and steam hisses, excitement fills the air. However, the festive mood doesn’t last long. Suddenly, disaster strikes without warning. Vernon Sledge, a notorious steampunk author, is found dead. Consequently, panic spreads through the convention like wildfire. Who, indeed, could have done this?

Just when all seems lost, hope arrives in an unexpected form. Fortunately, Emily Carter, a clever high school teacher, steps forward. Although she’s ready to solve this puzzle, she knows she can’t do it alone. Thus, Emily’s students eagerly join her quest. Despite their youth, their fresh perspectives might be just what’s needed.

As word spreads, more help arrives. Meanwhile, convention-goers in elaborate Victorian costumes offer their aid. Moreover, a Sherlock Holmes lookalike joins the hunt, adding a touch of classic detective flair. With their team now assembled, the investigation begins in earnest.

The Hunt for Clues

Our intrepid sleuths then scour the convention for leads. First, they stop at the whimsical Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. Here, both riddles and suspects abound in equal measure. Subsequently, they move on to the vendor tables. While steampunk trinkets catch their eye, evidence might be hiding among the gears and gadgets.

Furthermore, the team conducts a series of author interviews, each revealing surprising secrets. As a result, with every conversation, the plot thickens. Therefore, the question arises: Could one of these wordsmiths be the culprit?

The Author and Her World

Behind this pocket-sized whodunnit is Lisa M. Lane, a historian with a flair for fiction. Although born in England, Lane now calls California home, thereby bringing a unique perspective to her work. Over the years, her pen has been busy. In fact, she’s the author of “Before the Time Machine” and “A Heart Purloined.” Additionally, mystery fans especially love her Tommy Jones series.

Lane’s stories are more than just entertainment. Rather, they blend historical fact with vivid imagination, thus creating worlds that feel both familiar and fantastical. Besides writing, Lane’s talents extend to online teaching, where she’s always looking for new ways to share knowledge.

When not crafting intricate plots, you might find Lane tending to a stubborn garden. Alternatively, she might be curled up with a classic film, finding inspiration for her next great tale. Ultimately, her diverse interests all feed into her rich storytelling.

Now, dear reader, are you ready to crack the case? First, don your detective hat and grab your magnifying glass. Then, prepare yourself as history, mystery, and whimsy await in these pages. Finally, can you piece together the clues and solve the murder before time runs out? Indeed, the game is afoot in this pocket sized steampunk adventure!
