Following three very different characters in the 1940s, – Tamon Yamaguchi of the Imperial Japanese Navy, and two American servicemen, Adam Haynes and Eric Cobb. It is an alternative World War II tale.
Adam Haynes must continue an odyssey that began in the skies over Spain. Fighting Fascism has already cost him dearly, but he cannot abide the idea of a world without freedom.
American naval officer Eric Cobb is forced to choose between the letter of the law and its spirit, his decision irrevocably changes history.
Tamon Yamaguchi must prepare both himself and his men to fight a Pacific War vastly different than what was planned. Instead, the Imperial Japanese Navy turns its intentions towards Hawaii and the USN’s Pacific Fleet.
As Germany and Japan prepare the next phase of the conflict, Fate forces normal men and women to make hard choices in hopes of securing a better future for the next generation from a united, fascist Europe.
The author has done his research into each of the armed services featured – ranks, titles, duties, equipment etc. I was confused a lot by the way this book jumps about between these three characters, and by how many minor characters are introduced in each new scene. There are far too many inconsistencies, typos and errors within the book – but this can easily be rectified by the author through editing and reworking the manuscript. It is a book that uses changing pace to show the changes that occur to each of the characters, but this approach can confuse readers.
I award 3 stars.
