Endocarditis: my journey by Julie Day is a descriptive memoir of life in the sufferers’ shoes. It is cleverly sprinkled with hints and tips on how to manage many specialist and hospital appointments when you have a chronic illness, along with the same tips for recovery from an operation. Having researched the illness myself, I found the writing to be informative and true. Personally, I’d have formatted the book differently to make it easier for the reader to follow, but this might be the case in paperback format. This book was written as part therapy for Julie and part for helping other sufferers, both good reasons to produce the work. Overall, I award 5 stars.
