Whimsical and entrancing, this rhythmic story tells of friendship despite difference and is accompanied by beautiful illustrations.
The tale introduces us to Wanda the Fairy and Berry the Pixie, both who live in Firefly Forest and each playing their own special roles. Fairies and pixies don’t usually mix but in this case, they do! The story line is unique and will easily capture younger reader’s attention as well as teaching them an important lesson.
Cute and quirky illustrations accompany the rhyme and the pastel colours are both alluring and slightly magical in appearance, certainly appealing to the younger eye! The poem is presented as a shape poem and dances magically around the pages, providing a unique twist to the tale. Although the story is straightforward, and the language appropriate for the target age, the rhyme itself is inconsistent and not always easy to follow. At times, the word choice isn’t quite right either, which also distracts from the rhythm.
The Book Dragon reviewed this enchanting story of magic and friendship on behalf of the author and awards it 4 stars.
