Dogs of Destiny and Curious Cats By Author Claire Brewer – Book Review

Dogs of Destiny and Curious Cats written by Author Claire Brewer is the story of Oliver and his friends who are space cadets and finally realise their dream of joining the crew on Starship Everstrong. When Charlie, a curious school dog, discovers an ancient book with a prediction of doom for the crew on Starship Everstrong, he sneaks on board, but by the time he is able to warn the Captain of this foretelling, it is too late to leave the spaceship, and Charlie too, is plunged into whatever fate has in store for them.

This brilliantly written and engaging story had me hooked from the first page. Intended for readers aged between 6-12 years, who will assuredly love the antics on board the space craft, I would highly recommend to adults too. Especially if you love our furry friends and are a fan of Star Trek or Lost in Space which this book had a feel of throughout. The author takes the readers on a wave of varying emotions, some lows as well as highs, and it all makes for an exciting story. I loved all of the different elements introduced from the story of creation, premonitions, spiritual evolvement, time travel, the mystery of the universe, the birth of new worlds, to magic and spell casting, spirit animals, through to the relationships between dogs and cats and the animal kingdom, so many strands to tease the curiosity and stimulate the mind. The characters were endearing, the dialogue credible, and the story moves at a good pace keeping the reader invested in the story. I award Dogs of Destiny and Curious Cats a well earned 5 stars.
